Thank God for His protection! Cindy's Samsung Note 3 literally EXPLODED as her battery expanded and caught on fire. I thought this only happens "to other people." Cindy felt the phone suddenly get very hot and put it down when it then literally exploded. By God's grace, she still has all her fingers. Anyone with a Samsung connection in the Philippines where we can report this and get a replacement phone?
UPDATE 1: The Note 3 phone was bought in Seoul, Korea from a licensed Samsung store in Sept. 2014. The battery was an ORIGINAL Samsung battery. The phone was NOT charging and it was not charged overnight. The phone was on top of the night stand (uncovered) all night. It was used in the cool of the air-conditioned bedroom at the beginning of the day when it suddenly heated up.
UPDATE 2: Thanks to Samsung Mobile Philippines prompt assistance and attention to this matter. Thanks to all who have called their friends and connections at Samsung Philippines to alert them of this issue. At the company's request we have turned over what is left of the phone and battery to their customer service center for their investigation. Someone from corporate has called and we have been pleased with their care and concern. We have been a "Samsung family" for many years and have never had issues with their phones or tablets before.
UPDATE 3: For those of you who want us to switch over to Apple's iPhone, you are more than welcome to contribute to our Apple phone fund. That being said, I believe it is because of Samsung's detachable back cover that minimized the force of the battery's explosion. I can only imagine a phone with a built-in, inaccessible battery...where would the force dissipate? Nevertheless, regardless of the phone brand, accidents do happen. It is only because of God's protection and grace that my wife and my 3 little children (who usually play with Cindy's phone) have no physical injuries. I share with you one of my favorite Psalm from the Bible which is so true, evidenced from this incident:

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills.

2 My help comes from the Lord,
